Last Time Out: The Brewers took an early lead against the cougars of Kean University as Sophomore Haley Cubell found the back of the net just 55 seconds into the game.  The rest of the contest was filled with plenty of opportunities for both sides, with Kean finally knotting the score at 1-1 with about 20 minutes to play in the second half.  The two evenly matched teams forced the game into overtime where Kean was able to take advantage of a fortuitous rebound and bury a shot past a desperation dive from Vassar goalie Paige Amico.

A Look At The Brewers:
  • Haley Cubell's goal against Kean at 34:05 was the second fastest goal in the history of Vassar Field Hockey.  Cubell recorded her first career point and goal on the play in a 2-1 loss to Kean.
  • The loss to Kean marked the fourth straight year in which the Brewers and Cougars game has been decided by one goal.
  • In her most action packed game in this young season, Paige Amico recorded nine saves bringing her season total up to 14.
  • Megan Caveny continues to standout as a focal point of the Brewers offense as she recorded her first assist on the season against Kean, and pushed her shot total on the season to 25, 17 more than any other Brewer.
  • Lauren Shumate, Sophie Arnold, Monica Feeley, and Cristina Lopez have held down a strong backline for the Brewers missing only a combined 20 minutes over their first three games.
  • Vassar has done well to play clean field hockey, having only received two green cards on the season thus far.
  • The Brewers have spread the wealth offensively with four different players having each tallied one goal.

A Look At The Golden Eagles:
  • Brockport comes into play with a 1-1 recorded on the season, beating Keuka College 4-1 and losing by a score of 5-0 to St. John Fisher.
  • Margo Tremaine and Abby Meagher lead the Golden Eagles offensively with four and three points respectively.
  • Brockport has had trouble finding consistency in net as they have allowed six goals in two games, saving just 66.7 percent of the shots faced.
  • The Golden Eagles have been outshot in their first two games 39-27.
  • Maya Reina has been strong on the Brockport backline having played all but three minutes in the teams first two games, while also recording a remarkable five defensive saves against St. John Fisher.

Against The College at Brockport All-Time: The Brewers are 2-0-1 all time against the College at Brockport.  The only tie coming back in 1988, while the two wins have come in the past two seasons.  When these two squads last met on Weinberg Field the Brewers came away with a decisive 5-0 victory.

Next Up: Vassar will head to Danbury, CT to take on the Colonials of Western Connecticut State in their first road contest of the season.  The matchup is scheduled for Wednesday, September 14th, at 7 p.m.
