HOBOKEN, NY (September 10, 2016) — The Vassar College women's soccer team fell 2-0 on the road versus Stevens Institute of Technology at the 13
th annual Stevens Engineering Cup on Saturday.

Stephanie Tapolsky took the loss for Vassar (1-3-0) after making two saves, while Lindsey Mahnken earned the win for Stevens (4-0-0) after making five stops.
"Another tough game for us against a strong Stevens team," coach
Corey Holton said. "Once again we had our chances. The difference today was that Stevens put their opportunities away. I'm proud of our effort and work rate against a very good team under incredibly hot conditions."
The game was fairly even as far as possession: Stevens outshot Vassar 12-11, but the Brewers outshot the Ducks in shots-on-goal 5-4.
The Ducks struck late in the first half, as Julia Panko notched her third goal of the season after spiking the ball in after it had ricocheted off the post in the 33
rd minute. Stevens carried a 1-0 edge into the break before adding another goal in the 74
th minute. Gabby Pagkalinawan notched her first goal of the season, thanks to an assist from Gabby Mathelier.
Vassar competes in Day 2 of the Stevens Engineering Cup on Sunday, September 11, facing Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, NJ. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
