Vassar enjoyed a 5-4 win over William Smith College on Senior Day on April 23. The Herons took two of three doubles matches, with the Brewers lone doubles point coming at three from
Morgane Flournoy and
Kelsey Van Noy, 8-1. Trailing 2-1 going into singles play,
Shayna Becker locked the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win at four. Then
Connie Yoo put the Brewers back on top with a 6-2, 6-1 win at six.
Courtney Geiss cushioned the lead even more with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at two, and Flournoy clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 6-3 at five.
A Look at the RPI Engineers (5-9, 2-3)
The Engineers have dropped four of their last five, most recently falling 6-3 to William Smith, the school the Brewers most recently beat. RPI led 2-1 after doubles, with wins from Emily Laurilliard and Melanie Frank at one and from Pooja Ganesh and Nisha Rajamohan at three. But the Herons won five of six singles matches to secure the team victory. For the Engineers, Laurilliard was the only one to win, taking No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Before RPI hosts Vassar for its final match of the regular season, the program will head to Schenectady, NY to face Union College on Friday.

Liberty League Standings
Vassar (12-7, 5-1) is currently third in the Liberty League standings, ahead of William Smith (10-7, 3-3), Union (9-5, 2-3), RPI (5-9, 2-3), Rochester Institute of Technology (4-12, 1-6) and Bard College (2-11, 0-7). Only St. Lawrence University (13-6, 6-1) and Skidmore College (8-8, 6-1) are ahead of Vassar. The Brewers are responsible for the Thoroughbred's lone conference loss, having beaten them 5-4 on April 2.
Honor Rollin'
Courtney Geiss earned a spot on this week's Liberty League Honor Roll after her performance on Saturday. Geiss showed dominance at the No. 2 singles spot, defeating Alex Greenberg of William Smith, 6-0, 6-1.
Freshman Flournoy
Morgane Flournoy was the only Brewer to win both her doubles and singles matches in Vassar's 5-4 win over William Smith on Saturday. First the freshman and partner
Kelsey Van Noy took down Alex Cattie and Sydney Ferry at No. 3 doubles, 8-1. Then she bested Ferry again, defeating her at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
Senior Status
Kelsey Van Noy has been stellar for the Brewers in both doubles and singles. The senior leads the team with a 15-12 doubles mark with partners
Lauren Stauffer (10-9),
Morgane Flournoy (6-2) and
Hanna McGuire (0-1). Van Noy boasts a winning 12-10 singles record as well.
