Last Time Out: In its most recent matchup, Vassar was edged 1-0 by No. 11 St. Lawrence University on Oct. 1. Mattie Mrlik, Henrik Olsson, Noah Bloch, Tyler Gilmore, Jose Novas and Alex Gonzales all took at least one shot-on-goal, but couldn't get past the Saints' keeper. The Brewers return to Poughkeepsie coming off a three-game road trip wherein they tied Skidmore College 1-1 and defeated Clarkson University 2-1 as well.

A Look At The Brewers (7-2-2):
  • Tyler Gilmore and Jose Novas earned spots on this week's Liberty League Honor Roll. Gilmore notched the game-winner in Vassar's 2-1 victory at Clarkson on Sept. 30, while boosting a defense that held Clarkson to three shots-on-goal and No. 11 St. Lawrence to just five. Novas scored the equalizer in that Clarkson game, poking in a second-chance score in the second half. The full release can be read here.
  • Vassar is currently tied for third in the Liberty League with four points, alongside Clarkson, Rochester Institute of Technology and Hobart College.
  • The Brewers are second in the Liberty League in goals (2.182 per game), assists (1.909 per game) and points (6.27 per game).
  • Vassar has four players in the top ten in goals in the Liberty League: Mattie Mrlik, Tanner Sands, Jose Novas and Tyler Gilmore.
  • The Brewers have outshot opponents 195-109 overall and 84-44 in shots-on-goal. Of their 24 total goals, 21 have been assisted.
  • Vassar has scored more than twice as many goals after the break, totaling seven in the first half and 17 in the second.
  • Twelve Brewers have found the back of the net, displaying their offensive depth.
  • Mattie Mrlik paces the Brewers with 15 points (five goals, five assists), which is the second-most points that anyone has collected in the Liberty League, only behind Union's Andrew Fontaine (17 points).
  • Mattie Mrlik has tallied a point and an assist in three games so far this season, and has collected at least a point in seven of 11 games so far this season.
  • Hayden Van Brewer and Mattie Mrlik have dished out five assists on the season, which is good for second most in the conference only behind Union's Andrew Fontaine (seven assists).
  • Goalkeeper Matt Marcelino has been solid in the cage, registering 33 saves for a 6-2-2 mark, including two clean sheets. Fellow keeper Will Marment has also spent time in net, starting one game and playing in three for a 1-0-0 record.
  • The Brewer defense has been stifling, shutting out five teams so far in Mount Saint Mary College (Sept. 4), William Paterson University (Sept. 10), Elms College (Sept. 11), New Paltz (Sept. 14) and Elmira College (Sept. 20).

A Look At the Engineers (3-5-2):
  • Prior to a 2-0 win over Hobart on Oct. 1, RPI mustered just one goal over its five previous games.
  • Four of those games resulted in losses (spanning from Sept. 13 to Sept. 30), as the losing streak was broken up by a 0-0 draw with University of Rochester on Sept. 24. Goalkeeper Matt LaBranche kept the shutout intact with a pair of saves over 110 minutes.
  • RPI's game against Vassar will mark the end of a long road stretch, wherein 11 of the first 12 games of the Engineers' season were on the road.
  • The Engineers have outshot opponents 112-79 overall and 48-31 in shots-on-goal. Of their eight total goals, five have been assisted.
  • RPI has scored three times as many goals in the second half, netting six goals after the break compared to the two beforehand.
  • Devon Baughen paces the Engineers with 10 points on five goals, two of which were game-winners.
  • Nick Revano, Gabe El-Ghandour and Austin Betterly have also found the back of the net, each notching one goal on the season.
  • Five Engineers have dished out at least one assist so far this season: Nick Revano, Gabe El-Ghandour, Dylan Weltz, Steven Collins, and Tim Stevens.
  • Despite finishing sixth in the Liberty League last season, the Engineers earned an at large bid in the NCAA Tournament.
  • Ryan Nealon has fended off 20 shots for a 3-4-1 record, including two clean sheets, while fellow keeper has made three saves for a 0-1-1 mark, including a shutout.

Against RPI All-Time: The Brewers are 11-15-4 against the Engineers all-time. Vassar fell twice to RPI in 2014 (once during the regular season and then in the Liberty League Championships), but was victorious last season in Rochester, NY by a 2-1 decision.

Next Up: Vassar continues its five-game homestand, hosting Rochester Institute of Technology (Friday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m.), Hobart College (Saturday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m.), University of Rochester (Senior Day — Saturday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m.) and Union College (Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m.).
