ITA Division III Full Rankings

The Vassar women's tennis team moved up one spot in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Rankings released on April 30, now tabbed as the No. 21 team in the country. VC also improved upon its ranking in the Northeast Region, moving up from No. 9 to the No. 8 spot in the rankings. Freshman Kate Christensen (Los Angeles, CA/Connections Academy) was ranked as the No. 11 singles player on April 9, and will likely be tabbed in the top 20 again in the singles rankings released later today. Seniors Samantha Schapiro (Milford, NJ/Rutgers Preparatory School) were slotted as the No. 9 ranked doubles team in the Northeast.

Last Time Out
Vassar concluded its 2014-15 home slate on April 26, celebrating Senior Day with an 8-1 defeat of No. 37 St. Lawrence University in action from Joss Courts.

A Look at the Saints (15-6, 5-2 Liberty League)
Not much has changed in a week, as the Brewers and Saints will square off again after previously meeting in dual match action on April 25. St. Lawrence played one last match to wrap up its regular season on April 26, dropping a 2-7 decision to the College of New Jersey.

New Look Championship
The format of the Liberty League Tennis Championships has changed this season, as the tournament is now held in a neutral location with only the top four teams in the conference advancing. In previous years the tournament encompassed all teams in the Liberty League, while the men and women's championships were hosted in separate locations. All six matches (four semifinals, two championships) between the men and women's teams will be played at the Reis Tennis Center.

What's Next
If the Brewers are victorious on Saturday, the team will most likely have a rematch with No. 1 seeded Skidmore on Sunday. Vassar was edged 6-3 by the Thoroughbreds when the teams met earlier this season on March 17, but both squads have undergone changes since then. Vassar and Skidmore have advanced to the championship every year since the 2006-07 season.
