Men's Squash Dropped On The Road By Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, CT (December 5, 2015) -- The Vassar College men's squash team traveled to Connecticut College for a test with the Camels, but were unable to pick up a match in falling 9-0 in the final matches before the Holiday break.

VC had a few strong performances in the loss, as junior No. 1 player Vincent Mencotti (Birmingham, MI/Brother Rice) rallied from a set down against Brandon McClintick to take the second game 11-8. Mencotti kept his momentum going in earning a 12-10 victory in the third set, but McClintick picked up an 11-9 win in the fourth set to force the final game. In the fifth set, Mencotti played well but was unable to outlast McClintick, who chalked up a 11-9 win in the final game for the five-set match victory.

At the No. 9 position, junior Richard Bryenton (Knoxville, TN/West) earned the first set of his match with a 11-9 win, but David Aldaz of Connecticut College rallied for a 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6 win. In exhibition action at No. 10, sophomore Alex Riccio (Portland, CT/Portland) lost in three sets, but forced extra points in all three games in losing 13-11, 13-11, 13-11.

Vassar (1-5) will host Haverford College, while rematching Connecticut College, January 23 at 11 a.m. in Kenyon Hall, as VC restarts its schedule after the Holiday break.
