Brewers Drop Road Contest to Trinity

HARTFORD, CT (December 2, 2015) – Sophomore Jesse Browne (Barrington, RI/Deerfield Academy) posted a game-high 20 points, but it was not enough as Vassar fell to Trinity College 74-56 Wednesday evening. Trinity moves to 4-1 on the season, while Vassar drops to 2-3.

The Bantams had four players finish in double figures, including Ed Ogundeko who posted a double double on a team-best 14 points and 11 rebounds. Trinity out-rebounded the Brewers by a margin of 49-31 while shooting 42.4% from the floor.

The Bantams took the upper hand with a 13-0 run starting at the 11:28 mark in the first half. Eric Gendron sparked the scoring burst for the hosts, as Trinity built a 25-13 advantage in less than four minutes.

Browne finally answered for the Brewers with a layup at 6:49, but the Bantams remained in control with steady scoring to get ahead 42-25 at half.

Vassar managed to cut the lead to nine by the 15:52 mark of the second half, but couldn't complete the rally as the Bantams regained command down the stretch. Trinity managed to outscore the visitors 32-31 in the second half, holding a double digit lead for most of the period.

Senior Erikson Wasyl (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) finished with 14 points and a team-high five assists, while sophomore Tony Caletti (Mill Valley, CA/Branson) notched 12 points on four three pointers.

The Brewers will return to game action on Saturday, December 5 when the team hosts Hamilton College.
