Game Coverage: (Live Stats) Last Time Out: Rochester's Jared Seltzer scored a game-high 21 points, as the Yellow Jackets fended off Vassar 68-57 in the Championship of the Chuck Resler Tip Off Tournament. VC finished 1-1 overall on the weekend with an 81-77 victory over Ohio Northern on Friday.
A Look at the Privateers: Maritime has gotten off to a tough start in 2015-16, holding a 0-3 record through the first weeks of the season. Maritime closed out its stay in the 2015 Admiral's Classic on November 21 with a loss to the Maine Maritime Mariners by the score of 65-58 at Riesenberg Hall. The Privateers previously lost to Merchant Marine 70-60 in their opening game of the tournament, and dropped an 80-60 decision to Centenary College in its season opener on November 14.
Junior Brendon Halligan currently leads the team in scoring with 14.7 points a game. Sophomores Patrick MacDonald (13.7 ppg) John Liccese (13.3 ppg) are also averaging double figures through the early part of the year, while MacDonald leads the team in rebounding with 7.7 per game. Maritime has had trouble closing out games, scoring just 82 points in the second half in three contests this season.
Against Maritime All-Time: Vassar is 7-8 all-time vs. Maritime, and picked up a 64-57 victory when the teams met last season on January 12. The teams had previously not played head-to-head since the 1998 season.
Season-Best Repeat?: Last season
Erikson Wasyl scored a season-best 22 points against Maritime to help lead VC to a win. The game was also the first of
Jesse Browne's career after he had previously missed time due to a preseason injury.
Homecoming: Vassar assistant coach Mike McSloy will return to his alma mater Tuesday where he played two season of college ball. McSloy had his first stint in coaching under current Maritime head coach Jake Scott in his inaugural season.
All-Tournament Team: Erikson Wasyl and
Jesse Browne were both named to the Chuck Resler Tip Off All-Tournament Team this past weekend. Wasyl averaged 16.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists in the two-day tournament, while Browne posted 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals in two games.
Collegiate Debuts: Three Brewers made their college debuts against New Paltz last weekend. Freshman
Paul Grinde posted a double-double against the Hawks, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds while adding three blocks. Freshman
Alex Seff posted five points and an assist in 16 minutes of action, while fellow first-year
Chris Gallivan posted four points and two boards. Freshman
Mason Dyslin played his first minutes against Ohio Northern on November 21.
Non-Conference Look: Vassar will look to improve upon its record in non-conference competition last season when the team went 4-5 against non-league opponents.
Rule Changes: There are a handful of rule changes implemented this season across the landscape of college basketball. The most obvious is the change from the 35 second shot clock to a 30 second shot clock in the men's game, aimed at increasing the pace of play.

Going International: Vassar will have two games vs. Gustavus Adolphus and Central College in San Juan Puerto Rico this season at the Puerto Rico Classic Tournament.
Preseason Poll: The Vassar men's basketball team was picked to finish ninth in the Liberty League preseason coaches' poll released by the conference offices on November 12. The Brewers received 16 votes. (

Geography Lesson: Vassar's 2015-16 roster features student athletes from eight different states. New York and Massachusetts lead the way with three players from each state.
