ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY (October 24, 2015) – The Vassar College men's squash team had their season debut at Annandale-on-Hudson, NY against Bard College. The Raptors were able to clinch a 6-3 victory, as they celebrated the dedication of their home squash courts Saturday.
Junior No. 1 player
Vincent Mencotti (Birmingham, MI/Brother Rice) led the Brewers, winning 11-13, 11-6, 12-10, 11-8, knocking off Bard's Rhys Nordstrom. Senior captain
Timothy Veit (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) bested Asad Hashmi with a 12-10, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8 win to gain the second point on the day as he grabbed the No. 4 flight.
The only perfect match on the day for the Brewers was played by newcomer
Andrew Patton (Barrington, RI/Barrington). Patton won the last contested point at the No. 9 spot in his collegiate debut, earning an 11-2, 11-5, 15-13 victory.
Matthew Fastman (Hastings on Hudson/ Hastings) won the exhibition match with a 11-3, 7-11, 11-7, 11-3 score. The Brewers had chances in other spots throughout the match, but couldn't capitalize as the Raptors (1-0) won all of their matches in straight sets Saturday.
The Brewers (0-1) will next see competition as they host Siena College October 31st in Kenyon Hall.
