GENEVA, NY (April 27, 2013) – The Vassar College women's tennis team completed the regular season with a 7-2 win at Liberty League rival William Smith College on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Sam Schapiro and freshman Winnie Yeates secured the team victory with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles spots. Schapiro defeated Hallsey Leighton 6-2, 6-1 and Yeates picked up a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win over Casey Nicoletti.

The win gives Vassar an 11-3 overall record and a 3-1 Liberty League record. They next look towards the Liberty League Championships on May 3 through May 4 at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

The Brewers picked up the first three match wins in doubles that was vital to their success. Schapiro and sophomore Ava Sadeghi defeated Teru Greene and Kelley Hartmann 8-2. Yeates and freshman Lauren Stauffer downed Leighton and Nicoletti 8-5. Junior Lindsay Kantor and freshman Kelsey Van Noy got the win at No. 3 doubles over Katie Drinkwater and Kathleen Kennedy 8-4.
