PASADENA, CA/LA VERNE, CA (March 14-16, 2013) – The Vassar College women's tennis team wrapped up play in California with two 8-1 wins against Caltech and the University of La Verne. The Brewers defeated Caltech on Thursday, March 14 and La Verne on Saturday, March 16.

Ava Sadeghi had two wins in singles and paired with sophomore
Samantha Schapiro for two more wins in doubles.
Vassar returns home with a record of 5-2 and will next host Liberty League opponent Skidmore College on Saturday, March 30 at 12:00 pm.
Schapiro won at the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-3 against La Verne's Jeanette Losaria. She had the most decisive singles score against the Leopards. Three singles matches went into a third set and junior
Lindsay Kantor's match added a tiebreaker to her third set. She defeated Brooke Hines, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (4) at the No. 4 spot.
Vassar swept doubles in both matches.
Freshman Winifred Yeates had a perfect match against Caltech's Stephane Kwan, 6-0, 6-0 while fellow freshman
Kelsey Van Noy had a somewhat similar match against Michelle Lee, winning 6-1, 6-2. Sadeghi also won 6-1, 6-2 against Caltech's Monica Li.
“This young team found out more about their strong character and competitive abilities,” Campbell said. “It was inspiring to see them respond in such a mature manner."
