Women's Tennis Falls To #10 Bowdoin, 9-0 During Spring Break

Results

NORTHRIDGE, CA (March 11, 2013) – The Vassar College women's tennis team dropped their first dual match of the 2012-13 season to #10 nationally ranked Bowdoin College, 9-0 on Monday, March 11 at Cal State Northridge.

Freshman Kelsey Van Noy came close to winning the second set of her match against Courtney Gallagher at the No. 6 spot, but loss in two sets, 6-2, 7-5. Bowdoin finished eighth in the nation last year and returned all of their team members this year.

The Brewers untarnished record breaks at 3-1 as they next face Pomona College on Wednesday, March 13 at 4:00 pm. The Polar Bears remain undefeated at 3-0 and will next play the University of Rochester on Wednesday as well.

"We fought hard continuously and played long points with most games going to deuce particularly in the singles,” head coach Kathy Campbell said. “We stepped up our play as the match transpired which was inspiring.  This was a great match experience for our young team, and will help us as we face many other nationally ranked opponents this spring.”
