POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 29, 2012) – Led by a career best six point game from junior midfielder
Tina Caso, the Vassar College field hockey team put together its most dominant performance of the season in defeating Morrisville State, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon at Weinberg Field.
The victory, which saw Caso score two goals and assist on two others, snapped Vassar's three game losing skid. Seven different players scored goals for the Brewers, who tallied 27 shots in the game. The Mustangs were limited to only four shots, of which one was saved by a Vassar goalie.
The victory improves Vassar to 5-4. Morrisville drops to 2-9. Vassar will next host Elms College on Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. Morrisville next hosts Union College on October 2 at 4:00 p.m.
The Brewers, dominant throughout, were particularly aggressive in the first half, earning 20 of their 27 shots. Caso assisted on the game's first goal by sophomore midfielder
Dara Davis just 52 seconds into the contest and earned her first goal of the game at 12:43 when Davis fed her on the left side of the Morrisville goal.
Vassar, which swarmed the Morrisville crease the entire game, went into intermission with a 5-0 lead on goals by senior midfielder

Cameron Felt increased Vassar's lead to 8-0. Freshman midfielder
Haley Merritt rounded out the scoring with her first intercollegiate goal with six minutes to play. Smith had two assists in the game.
