TROY, NY (April 6, 2012) -- The Vassar College women's tennis team swept six singles matches en route to an 8-1 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Liberty League action on Friday.

"We dealt with the wind and conditions well," said head coach Kathy Campbell. "RPI was a very good team, much improved."

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) No. 25 Brewers (8-4, 4-1 Liberty) compete in the Seven Sisters Championships this Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15, at Mount Holyoke College.

The Brewers went up 2-1 after doubles, led by a strong effort at No. 1 as Joy Backer and Ava Sadeghi knocked off Carey Olson and Amanda Alexander 8-3.

Backer double-bageled Meghan Olson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Sadeghi downed Christina Ciamarra 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
