POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 21, 2012) -- The Vassar College women's tennis team took a 2-1 lead after doubles and won five of six singles points en route to a 7-2 win over Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Saturday at Josselyn Tennis Courts.

The Brewers (13-4) honored seniors Joy Backer, Jennifer Beckerman, and Nicole Block in the final regular season match before hosting the Liberty League Championships on May 4-6. The Engineers (10-8) face Skidmore on Sunday at 11:00 am.

In doubles, Beckerman paired with Samantha Schapiro for an 8-6 win over Anastasia Vishnevetsky and Michelle Dutt at No. 2 singles.

In singles, Backer took down Dutt 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 singles and Beckerman outlasted Vishnevetsky 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles.
