LOS ANGELES, CA (March 4, 2012) -- The Vassar College women's tennis team overcame a 3-0 deficit with a sweep of singles for a 6-3 win over Occidental College on Sunday at McKinnon Family Tennis Center.

The Brewers (3-1) return to action on Tuesday against Kenyon College at 10:00 p.m.

“Oxy came out playing really well in doubles to go up 3-0 and this is the first time this group has come back from such a deficit,” said head coach Kathy Campbell. “After doubles, we knew there were still plenty of opportunities to win the match. We had five minutes to put the doubles behind us and control our destiny in singles.”

The Brewers were dominant in singles and did not surrender a set. Senior Jennifer Beckerman clinched the victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Krishnaveni Subbiah at No. 1 singles.

Vassar evened the score at 3-3 with a 6-1, 6-2 win by Ava Sadeghi over Rachel Buckner at No. 2 and the Brewers took the lead with a 6-1, 6-1 by Jennifer Ruther over Sara Chareny at No. 5 singles.
