POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 25, 2012) -- The Vassar College women's tennis team won its second straight Liberty League match with a 9-0 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology on Sunday at Josselyn Tennis Courts.

The Brewers (7-3, 3-0 Liberty) next face rival Skidmore College on the road on Saturday, March 31, at 1:00 pm. The Tigers (1-5, 0-1 Liberty) travel to Hamilton on March 31 for a 1:00 pm match.

Vassar lost a total of two games in three doubles matches and five games in the bottom five singles matches to quickly reach the deciding five points.

At No. 1 singles, senior Jennifer Beckerman and RIT's Maite Vera played a marathon match that long outlasted the other five singles matches. Vera took the first set 6-3 but Beckerman rallied for a 7-3 win in the second set tiebreaker to even the score 1-1. In a super tiebreaker in lieu of a third set, Beckerman edged Vera 14-12 to earn Vassar's ninth point.
