BRONX, NY (February 5, 2012) -- The Vassar College men's squash team defeated the College Squash Association (CSA) No. 52 ranked Ithaca College 9-0 and the No. 44 ranked Fordham University 7-2 on Sunday at Lombardi Squash Courts.

The CSA No. 41 Brewers celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, February 11, at Kenyon Hall against Wesleyan at 11:00 a.m. and Drexel at 3:30 p.m.

The Brewers avenged a loss to Fordham earlier in the season with a strong showing at the top and bottom of the lineup as Vassar's top three and bottom four positions won matches. At the No. 1 position, Vassar freshman Michael Sankovich cruised in straights 11-2, 11-4, 11-6 over Andriy Kulak of Fordham. At the No. 9 position, Vassar senior Shail Bajpai had a marathon five-set victory over Quetzalli Torres of Fordham 12-10, 10-12, 11-6, 10-12, 12-10.

It was Bajpai's second five-setter of the day as he outlasted Natasha Jones-Siley of Ithaca 10-12,11-7,11-5,4-11,11-6 in the earlier match. Trailing 2-1 to Ithaca's Mack Smith at the No. 2 position, Vassar junior Jake Harris surged for 11-4 and 11-0 wins in the fourth and fifth set to complete the comeback 11-13,3-11,7-11,11-4,11-0 win.
