Men's Squash Season Openers: No. 1 Harris Wins Matches Against NYU & Haverford

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 10, 2012) – The Vassar College men's squash team fought close matches with their young team Saturday afternoon at Kenyon Hall but unfortunately fell to Fordham University and Haverford College 8-1.

Jake Harris was the only Brewer to walk away with a pair of wins. Harris defeated Fordham's Jack O'Brien (11-3, 11-4, 11-3) and Haverford's Andy McComas (10-12, 11-7, 11-7, 11-6) in the No. 1 spot.

The Brewers (0-2) will next host the Liberty League Championships where they will face Bard College and the University of Rochester on November 17. They will then face Hobart College and St. Lawrence University on the second day of competition. The 11:00 am match against St. Lawrence is also Vassar's senior day will they will recognize Harris, Robert Ruggiero and Aiden Sperry.

The second closest match of the day on the men's side was No. 3 Riley McCabe against Fordham's Alex Williams. The match went all five sets. Williams ended the match with an 11-3 set to take the victory over McCabe.
