POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 13, 2011) -- Despite sitting two players due to injuries, the Vassar College men's squash team managed to split its matches with a 6-3 loss to Fordham University and a 7-1 win over Bard College on Saturday at Kenyon Hall.

Next weekend, the Brewers (3-1) travel to St. Lawrence for the Liberty League Championships on November 19-20.

Against Fordham, the Brewers picked up wins in the top two positions but dropped three four-set matches and one five-set match in an even contest. Vassar regrouped and defeated Bard handily with six straight-set wins. Vassar and Bard defaulted the No. 9 position in both matches.

At the No. 1 position, Vassar freshman Michael Sankovich continued his undefeated start in intercollegiate play with an 11-5, 11-4, 11-2 over Andriy Kulak of Fordham and an 11-6, 11-6, 11-7 win over John Levering of Bard College. He has yet to drop a set in his young intercollegiate career.

Yi Tan was the only other two-match winner for the Brewers as he defeated Chris Souther of Fordham in a tight four-setter 11-9, 10-12, 11-3, 11-9 and Aiko Roudette of Bard 11-6, 11-4, 11-7.
