MYRTLE BEACH, SC (March 18, 2010) – In a head-to-head matchup with Doane College, the Vassar College women's golf team earned a convincing victory on Thursday on the Faszio Course at the Barefoot Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach.

The Brewers scored a 367 to the Tigers' 455, with Vassar's four scoring golfers claiming the top four spots. The Brewers will return to action in the Northeast by hosting the Vassar Invitational on April 10-11 at the Dutchess County Golf and Country Club.

“It was good to have another opportunity in a competitive environment when every shot counted and now we have some experience under our belt before hosting the Vassar Invitational,” said head coach Rhett Myers. “It was a great week and a crucial time for us to get a lot of golf played.”

Freshman Celynne Balatbat and sophomore Laurie King had the top scores on the day, tying for first place with 90s. Freshman Nicole Bronson finished in third with a 92, followed by sophomore Alex Bello who shot a 95. Freshman Sanam Khanna also competed for the Brewers, shooting a 117.

Doane's top golfer was Rachel Ryan who shot a 110, followed by Andrea Rosh (113), Abby Hahn (113), and Brittany Sampy (118). Loria Lei Thunker recorded a 144 for the Tigers.
