HAVERFORD, PA (November 6, 2010) – The Vassar College men's squash team came up empty-handed as it lost to Haverford 6-3 and George Washington University 9-0 in their season opening tri-match Saturday afternoon.

The Brewers (0-2) host Fordham University next Wednesday, November 17 at 5:00 p.m.

Against Haverford with the match knotted at two points apiece, Haverford picked up a win in the No. 9 position to take a 3-2 lead. Sophomore Jacob Harris prevailed 11-7, 11-7, 11-9 over Andy McCombas to even the score at 3-3. At No. 3, Mehdi Naqvi climbed back from a two-set deficit only to lose the final set 11-9 to Zef Konst. Robert Ruggiero seemed poised to take his potential equalizer match to the decisive fifth set but he came up just shy as Haverford's Zeke Barnett won the fourth set 11-9 to clinch the Haverford victory.

Vassar tennis standout Dan Freeman picked up his first career squash win 11-5, 11-3, 7-11, 13-11 over Robbie Thompson in his collegiate debut.
