Championship Program

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 20, 2010) -- The College Squash Association (CSA) No. 4 ranked University of Rochester was dominant on day one of the four-team Liberty League Championships as it won both of its matches, 7-2 over CSA No. 16 St. Lawrence University and 7-2 over CSA No. 25 Hobart College Saturday afternoon at Kenyon Hall. The host Vassar College, ranked No. 41, was swept 9-0 by Hobart and St. Lawrence.

The Brewers (1-4) will face Rochester at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 21. Hobart will play St. Lawrence at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Sophomore Jake Harris won Vassar's only set of the day as he claimed the openening game 11-9 against Hobart's Corey Kabot but suffered an injury and eventually lost 9-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-8. Harris pushed St. Lawrence's Amay Merchant  Amay 11-7, 11-3, 11-9 in a close match.

The Yellowjackets flexed an impressive top seven of the lineup that went undefeated in the first two rounds. St. Lawrence's Amay Merchant tested Rochester's Andres Duamy in the No. 1 position by winning the second set but fell 11-6, 6-11, 11-3, 11-8.

Both Hobart and St. Lawrence captured the No. 8 and No. 9 spots against the formidable Rochester.
