POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 13, 2010) -- The Vassar College men's squash team won its home-opener against Bard 8-1 Saturday afternoon at Kenyon Hall to pick up their first win of the season.

The Brewers (1-2) host Fordham University next Wednesday, November 17 at 5:00 p.m. The Raptors (0-6) face Colgate on the road Saturday, November 20.

“The team was really motivated and buckled down to finish the job,” said head squash coach Jane Parker. “Bard has really strengthened over the last few seasons so we knew this match couldn't be taken lightly and we're delighted with the victory.”

Last week's Liberty League Peformer of the Week, sophomore Jake Harris downed Bard's Dylan Coburn 11-5, 11-8, 11-8 at No. 1 singles.

Senior Ansser Sadiq overcame a first set loss to defeat Bard's Andrew Hoffman-Patalona 10-12, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 at No. 3 singles.

Bard's only win came in a dramatic five-setter as Patrick Feroni of Bard outlasted Vassar's Rob Ruggiero (VC) 9-11, 11-9, 4-11, 11-9, 11-9.
