AMHERST, MA (January 23, 2010) – The Vassar College men's squash team opened 2010 against a formidable No. 12-ranked Franklin & Marshall squad on Saturday at the Squash Invitational hosted by Mount Holyoke, Smith, and Amherst, falling 9-0, and then dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 21 Colby College.

The No. 42 Brewers fall to 3-8 and host Middlebury College on Saturday, January 30 at 10:30 a.m.

Taking on a strong Franklin & Marshal team that will face top-ranked Trinity College tomorrow, the Brewers showed poise with long rallies, in particular at No. 2, where the score of freshman Jacob Harris's loss to Juan Diego Lopez, 11-3, 11-3, 11-4, was not indicative of the competitiveness of the match. At No. 7, freshman Andrew Lindsay had a close match, falling 3-1 (11-3, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8) to the Diplomats' Fred Struse.

The Brewers got no break in their second game, facing an experience No. 2 Colby team. Harris picked up a game win in his match at No. 2, falling 3-1(11-8, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7) to William Sullivan.
