Senior Day Sweep of Bard for Brewers

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 18, 2009) – The Vassar College men's squash team ensured that its final memory of the season at Kenyon Hall would be a memorable one, sweeping Bard College, 9-0, to register its first win of the season on Wednesday evening. Vassar did not allow Bard even one game, winning every match 3-0.

The Brewers improve to 1-17 and will take the momentum of their first win into the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships this weekend at Princeton University. Vassar will face North Carolina in Round One of the Serues Division, on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

In the final matches of their career at Kenyon, seniors Austin Minkowski (Baltimore, MD/Gilman School), Daniel Tan (Singapore/United World College), Jake Kantrowitz-Sirotkin (Dover, MA/Milton Academy), and Nick Lupu (Stratford, CT/Robinson School) breezed through their matches at the No. 1, 2, 4, and 5 spots, respectively. Between them, the seniors allowed just 14 points in four matches, led by Minkowski, whose opponent registered just two points against him.
