Men's Squash Remains Unbeaten With 8-1 Win Over Fordham

Senior captain Arjun Agarwala pulled out an intense five-game win at No. 2

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 18, 2009) – Following Wednesday evening's 8-1 victory over Fordham University, the Vassar College men's squash team heads into this weekend's Liberty League Championships riding a wave of momentum with three consecutive wins to open the season.

The Brewers improve to 3-0, already matching their win total of last season. Vassar next travels to St. Lawrence University for the Liberty League Championships, facing the host Saints at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a 6:00 p.m. matchup with University of Rochester. On Sunday, the Brewers will face defending league champion and nationally-ranked No. 3 Hobart at 10:00 a.m. The Rams fall to 0-5 and will host Bard College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Senior captain Arjun Agarwala had the dramatic win of the evening, downing a persistent opponent in Fordham's Collin Corbett in five games, 11-13, 11-9, 6-11, 11-5, 11-8 at the No. 2 spot. Senior captain Henk Isom, junior Arjun Jain, and junior Kyle Holter picked up 3-0 sweeps at the 3-5 positions, respectively, and junior Mehdi Naqvi earned a sweep at the top spot, 11-5, 12-10, 11-5.
