POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (October 10, 2009) – The Vassar College women's tennis team dropped just nine games combined as it breezed past Union College, 9-0, on Saturday at Joss Tennis Courts.
The Brewers improve to 3-1 in their final dual match of the fall season. Vassar closes out the fall season at the New York State Championships hosted by Cornell University, October 16-18. The Dutchwomen fall to 2-5.

Caroline Dunn-Rankin each earned 8-0 sweeps. At No. 1 doubles, senior
Nicole Pontee and sophomore
Joy Backer picked up an 8-1 win.
Singles play was much of the same for Vassar, as Beckerman at No. 2 and Santiago at No. 6 earned 6-0, 6-0 sweeps. The closest match of the day came at No. 4 singles, as junior
Elizabeth Anderson picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Union's Andie Coopersmith.
