POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 14, 2007) – Vassar's men's squash team will head into the Liberty League Championship on a winning note. Behind strong play from top to bottom the Brewers evened their 2007-08 season record at 1-1 behind a convincing 8-1 win over Fordham Wednesday afternoon at Kenyon Hall. In victory, Vassar was never challenged, posting their third straight win over the Rams.
Vassar opened with four straight wins. Clinching the match for the Brewers at No. 9 singles was junior Nick Lupo (Stratford, CT/Robinson School) who defeated James Lechleitner (Middle Island, NY/St. Anthony's) in three straight games.
“I am delighted to win our home opener,” said head coach
Jane Parker. “A lot of our players have been going through technical changes in their games over the last few weeks, and today's match shows it's worth the effort and persistence. It's a great way to head into the Liberty League Tournament.”
