Freshman Tori Chaltain helped Vassar snap a four-game losing streak, recording her first career double-double with career highs in both points (14) and rebounds (10), as the Brewers defeated John Jay College, 65-52, on Monday evening. Chaltain drained the first basket of the second half to give the Brewers their first lead since her game-opening layup gave her team a 2-0 lead. Following Chaltain's jumper that gave the Brewers a 29-28 second half lead, Vassar would not relinquish that lead for the remainder of the game.
Chaltain shot 4-for-9 from the floor, and 6-for-7 from the free throw line, while also nabbing two steals in 34 minutes of play. The freshman has now recorded double-digits in the scoring column in six out of eight games this season, and is averaging 9.3 points per game.
