Senior captain Emily Haeuser netted her 1,000th career point against Brooklyn College on Saturday, becoming just the seventh player in Vassar women's basketball history to accomplish the feat. Haeuser, who had a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double in Saturday's game, scored the historic point off a free throw with 7:29 remaining in the game. Fittingly, the free throw that ushered Haeuser into the 1,000-point club came after she drew contact while sinking her signature southpaw hook-shot in the paint. Haeuser sits only two points away from Jamie Pearson ’91 for the 6th spot all-time with 1,005 points and is the first player to reach 1,000 since 2003 graduate Carleen Aubee. With 720 career rebounds, Haeuser is already second on the all-time list, and needs just 65 rebounds more to surpass Aubee and become Vassar's all-time leading rebounder. Haeuser is averaging 15.7 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game to lead the Brewers in her senior season.
