Fresh off receiving her first career ranking, No. 21 in the Northeast Region, Jennifer Beckerman defeated No. 18-ranked Cary Gibson of Williams College at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1 on Saturday. It was Vassar's only point as defending national champion Williams bounced the Brewers from the NCAA Team Championships with a 6-1 win in the second round of play. In the first round on Friday, Beckerman was in control of her match, leading 6-2, 3-0 as Vassar earned a 6-0 sweep of Simmons College. In her impressive collegiate debut, Beckerman was 18-6 playing mainly at No. 2 singles this season.
