Fischl, a sabre fencer, came back from what was thought to be a season ending injury and with little practice and no competitive fencing in the past three weeks, qualified for his fourth NCAA Championship by finishing fifth today with an 7-4 record in the final pool. No fencer in Vassar history has ever qualified for three NCAA Championships before Fischl did it last year, let alone a fourth. Very few athletes in any sport at any NCAA institution are able to do that. After finishing a career high 16th last year, Fischl is looking to break into All-American status this year.
