Morgan McCrea enters her fourth season in 2025-26 as the lead assistant coach for the Brewers as Vassar has posted a record of 64-19 overall and 46-8 in Liberty League play in her three seasons on the sideline.
In 2024-25, the Brewers won their second straight Liberty League title with a road victory over Ithaca in Liberty League Championship as McCrea mentored WBCA and D3Hoops.com All-American, Region Player of the Year and Liberty League Player of the Year Tova Gelb along with All-Region and All-Liberty League selections Julia Harvey and Sierra McDermed. Vassar finished the 2024-25 season with a 21-7 overall record and 15-3 in conference action. The Brewers earned its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and Gelb, Harvey and McDermed all reached the 1,000 point milestone during the season.
Vassar put together one of its best seasons in program history in 2023-24 as Vassar defeated Skidmore in the Liberty League Championship to earn its first conference championship since 2014 after posting a program-best 25 wins and a conference-best 17 victories. VC returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 as McCrea helped mentor First Team All-Liberty League and All-Region selections Tova Gelb, Julia Harvey and Sierra McDermed. The Brewers were voted as the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year along with Region III Coaching Staff of the Year and saw a program-record 21 game winning streak.
In McCrea's first season on the staff, Vassar finished with an 18-9 record and went 14-4 in Liberty League play to earn the three seed in the Liberty League Championship and reached the conference semifinals. McCrea helped mentor three All-Liberty League selections, including First Team and Defensive Player of the Year Eliza Srinivasan while Srinivasan was named a Third Team All-Met Writers selection.

McCrea comes to Vassar after serving as a volunteer assistant for the girls basketball team at St. Patrick Catholic High School last season. She helped assist with daily practices, while providing individualized player feedback during her tenure.

She also worked for the YMCA of Southeast Mississippi during, working with children from ages 4-12 in a number of capacities during 2021-22.

McCrea played collegiate basketball at Iowa Wesleyan University, earning SLIAC All-Conference First Team honors in 2020-21. She served as a captain from 2019-21 and was a SLIAC All-Conference Third Team honoree in 2019-20.

In addition to Iowa Wesleyan, McCrea also played at Millsaps College, earning SAA All-Conference First Team honors, while helping Millsaps to the SAA Regular Season Conference Championship in 2019.

McCrea earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management from Iowa Wesleyan in 2021, graduating Magna Gum Laude. She then went on to earn her Master of Business Administration from William Carey University in 2022. Â
