The Vassar College Sports Medicine Office has welcomed back Ian Shultis in 2023-24 as the Associate Head Athletic Trainer it was announced by Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Susan Higgins. Shultis previously served at Vassar as an Assistant Athletic Trainer from 2014-18.Â

In his previous stint with the Brewers, Shultis was on staff, and along with two other athletic trainers was responsible for the career of over 500+ student athletes. In that capacity, Shultis would be responsible for clinic, practice, and event coverage as well as rehabilitation management, acute injury care and electronic record keeping for the Vassar Brewers.

Other duties for Shultis included being a Violence Prevention Educator and a member of the student-athlete development committee. Â

After Vassar, Shultis has served a per diem athletic trainer in the Hudson Valley Region since 2019 and from 2022 through November 2023 was part of the staff at MOST-Ivy Physical Therapy in Dutchess County serving as a full-time Physical Therapist to his community. In this capacity, Shultis performed patient assessment and evaluations, and established and enacted treatment plans for his patients.Â

Shultis has also served as part of the medical team for USA Fencing for over 10 years covering both domestic national events and the Senior National team abroad on the international circuit. Other athletics coverage includes serving on the medical team for the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation for High school national Track and field competition in both indoor and outdoor competition.Â

Shultis earned an Associate Degree in Exercise Science and Wellness from Dutchess Community College in 2012 before completing a Bachelor Degree in Athletic Training in 2014. Shultis went on to complete his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Marist in 2021.
