Spencer Scarth

Spencer Scarth started his tenure with the Vassar swimming & diving programs in the summer of 2017. Scarth came to Vassar College after earning his M.S. from the University of Louisville in May of 2017, also serving as the head age group coach for RACE Aquatics from 2016-17. At RACE, he helped develop dryland programs and had numerous first-time state qualifiers and flnalists. Scarth also coached at South Warren, Greenwood and Warren East High School as an assistant, and was the South Oldham High School head coach from 2014-16, where he coached High School All-American Lydia Jackson.
 
In addition to his roles as a a collegiate coach, Scarth brings elite-level coaching experience from the University of Texas Longhorns Swim Camp during the summer of 2018. At the Longhorns Swim Camp, he served as an assistant coach alongside legendary coaches Eddie Reese and Carol Capitani. While there, Scarth spent five weeks with Olympic medalists, former world record-holders, and top-level athletes and coaches from around the world.

As an undergraduate, Scarth was a two-time Division III All-American at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. A Redding, CT native, he won 12 conference titles in his time at St. Olaf and was a team captain as a senior, helping the Oles to MIAC team titles in 2011, 2013 and 2014. Scarth was also a member of the Wilton YMCA Wahoos and was a contributor to their YMCA national championship his senior year. He also competed for Joel Barlow High School and had multiple All-State selections.
 
Scarth is certified as a coaching member with USA Swimming, while holding a Level 2 ASCA certification. He is also licensed by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as well as holding American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid and Lifeguard designations.
