2017: The senior had a strong season for the Brewers, as he saw action in 33 of the 34 matches in 2017, playing in 116 sets while starting 28 times...posted 165 kills for the Brewers, averaging 1.42 kills per set...hit .151 for the season...chalked up 152 digs, which was third-best on the team...added 63 blocks on the year, averaging 0.54 blocks per set...concluded his career at Vassar with 485 career kills, while also posting 359 digs and 102 matches played...chalked up five matches with 10 or more kills as a senior...registered a big game in a huge UVC win over Stevens, finishing with 12 kills, eight digs and five blocks to help Vassar defeat the Ducks...hit .421 against Mount Saint Vincent, finishing with 11 kills, six digs and four blocks...posted 11 kills and nine digs against Rivier College January 28...finished with 10 terminations and six digs along with four blocks in a loss to EMU on January 28...against Hunter, posted 11 kills, seven digs and four rejections...had a season-high six blocks against Marymount University March 24...chalked up a season-high 11 digs in a win over Juniata College March 4.
2016: The junior outside hitter saw action in all but one of the Brewers's 31 matches in 2016, as he started 16 times and played in 91 sets...posted 129 kills on the year, which was fifth-most on the team while also posting a strong reception percentage of .932...added 28 blocks to his ledger this season...posted two double-digit kill performances for Vassar, including posting 10 against Sage College March 2...posted 10 kills and four digs in a tough loss to MIT March 5...was great against NYU in the UVC Quarterfinals, chalking up eight kills, six digs and three blocks...had a season-high 13 digs in an upset of No. 4 Nazareth College...posted 11 digs in a win over Bard Feb. 20...had 15 matches with five or more terminations.
2015: Rutledge came into his own as a sophomore, as he moved into a starting outside hitter role for the Brewers...played in 70 sets and 28 matches for Vassar, posting 149 kills and 2.13 kills per set...posted a .179 hitting percentage for the season...dished out 45 assists as a reserve setter this year...chalked up a career-best 19 kills at MIT March 14, five more than his previous season high of 14...those 14 kills came in a thrilling five-set win at Hunter College...finished with eight kills and a career-high nine digs in a win over Mount Saint Vincent Feb. 21...added 13 service aces in 2015, posting three against Elms, CCNY and Hunter...added a season-high of three blocks in a win over Penn State-Behrend.
2014: Played in 34 sets across 11 matches…started five matches…third on the team with 68 assists…recorded 42 kills, 22 digs, 13 blocks, and seven aces…hit .110…had 22 assists, and a career-high two aces against Elms Feb. 1…recorded five kills, eight assists, and four digs against D’Youville Feb. 8…had a career-high 30 assists, and a career-high three blocks against Emerson Feb. 15…contributed a career-high nine kills on a .389 hitting percentage, and added a career-high six digs against Hunter Feb. 18…had six kills, three blocks, and two aces against Sacred Heart Mar. 29…recorded six kills and hit .286 against Brooklyn Apr. 5.
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Lettered four years in Volleyball at Cosby High School to Coach Frank Jenkins...captained two of those years...helped his team earn one District Championship, two Regional Championships...one time State Runner Up...two time First Team All District...one year Second Team All Region...All Academic team four years.
PERSONAL: Parents are Grant and Jessica Rutledge…older sister is Carmen…chose Vassar over University of Virginia, Washington and Lee, James Madison University, and Virginia Tech…plans to major in Economics and Computer Science.
