2015 Stats

2015: Rivera stepped right in as a freshman and snatched a starting outside hitter role for the Brewers in 2015...played in 94 sets and all 31 matches as a newcomer, posting the second-most kills on the team with 253 on the season...his percentage increased for much of the second half, hitting a solid .235 for the year...his 2.69 kills per set were second-most on the team and 11th most in the UVC...his 2.94 kills per set in just UVC matches were the ninth-most of any hitter in the league...was the first Vassar to post back-to-back 20-kill matches since 2011...finished nine games with double-digit kills...posted 15 terminations in a five-set loss to Nazareth Jan. 24...chalked up 132 digs for the season...posted two double-doubles, including the 10 kill, 11 dig match at Elmira College Jan. 15...posted a huge 20 kill, 12 dig outing at MIT on March 14...added 12 blocks on the season...earned UVC Rookie of the Week once during the season.

PRIOR TO VASSAR: Lettered four years in volleyball at the Cupeyville School under coach Jorge Nieves...captained two of those years...three-time PRHSAA All-Star...2012 BJNVC Tournament MVP...2014 Copa Jeep Tournament MVP...also lettered four years in baseball for coach Angel Garcia.

PERSONAL: Parents are Rodolfo Rivera and Carmen Irizarry...siblings are Rodolfo (23) and Alejandra (20)...chose Vassar over NYU, Villanova, and Michigan...plans to major in physics.
