Shayna Held

Shayna Held joins the Brewers coaching staff in the fall of 2021

Held comes to Vassar after one year as the graduate assistant coach at Utica, where she assisted with all facets of the program, including day-to-day operations, scouting, recruiting, and meet and practice preparation. During that time, Held coached four all-region award winners in the pentathlon, heptathlon, decathlon, and javelin throw, as well as help six student-athletes record Utica all-time top-ten performances.

Before Utica, Held recorded a standout career at SUNY Geneseo as a multi-event athlete. She was a four-time All-American with two-time honors in the women's outdoor heptathlon. She was fifth in that event in 2017 and fourth in 2018. Held went All-American in the indoor pentathlon with a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championships in 2018. Held also ran a leg of the Knights' 4x400 meter relay that placed sixth for All-American honors. Currently, Held has the Geneseo school record in the javelin (36.89m).

Held was a seven-time SUNYAC Champion and a thirteen-time All-Region honoree. She was also a USTFCCCA All-Academic selection.

Held graduated from Geneseo in May 2019 with a degree in business administration, with minors in Marketing and Art History. She is expected to graduate with a Master's Degree in business administration from Utica in December 2021.
