2013 Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week - 2/25

2015: Liberty League Honorable Mention…Liberty League All-Academic…started 13 games while seeing action in all 16 games…scored 21 goals while tallying 11 assists…32 points was fourth on the team…grabbed a team-high 57 ground balls, while recording at least one in all 16 games…went 74-of-134 on faceoffs…56.1% faceoff percentage set new single season Vassar record…tallied season-high five points on two goals and three assists against Manhattanville (2/25)…finished with three goals and a helper in win over Western Connecticut (3/12)…grabbed a season-high of 10 ground balls along with three goals and an assist against St. Lawrence (4/4)...posted a hat trick against No. 2 RIT (4/11). 

2014: Played in all 15 games with eight starts...tied for third on the team with 19 goals and added nine assists for the team's fourth highest in points with 28...scored hat-tricks against SUNY Cobleskill, Western Connecticut State and Bard...season-high performances of six points with his hat-tricks against Cobleskill and WestConn by adding three assists each...was 68-of-155 on faceoffs (43.9 percent)...scored the game-winners against Manhattanville and Bard...finished the season with a team-best, 58 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers.

2013: Played in 14 games and started in 13 of them…scored 18 goals and recorded seven assists for a total of 25 points…was the team leader with an astounding 139 ground balls…caused nine turnovers…scored two goals against Maritime, Manhattanville, Montclair, Western Connecticut, Mount Saint Mary, St. Lawrence, Drew, and Union. 

2012: Played in all 13 games…scored four goals and recorded 13 assists for a total of 17 points…was second on the team in ground balls and caused turnovers with 61 and six respectively.

PRIOR TO VASSAR: Lettered four years in Lacrosse at Ward Melville High School for coach Mike Hoppey...top 20 ranking both junior and senior seasons...lettered two years in golf for coach Bob Spira...undefeated seasons both years...lettered two years in volleyball for coach Enrico Chacon...four year member and sophomore, junior, and senior vice president of student government...high honor roll all four years.

PERSONAL: Parents are Scott and Diane Brekne...sisters are Kristen and Lindsey...majors in Economics...picked Vassar over University of Pennsylvania and Brown University...chose Vassar because, "Great balance of athletics and academics."
