2017: Was part of the best defense in program history as a senior, as he was one of the top options on defense for the Brewers...started 15 of the 16 games he played in 2017...picked up 25 ground balls on the season, sixth-best for the Brewers...finished the season with 13 caused turnovers, the third-most on the team...took one shot...finished with a career-best four caused turnovers and three ground balls against No. 8 St. Lawrence University April 15...posted two caused turnovers and two ground balls in a loss to nationally-ranked Wesleyan University March 14...finished with one caused turnover and two ground balls against Oneonta in a 10-3 victory...in the Liberty League Tournament, Haymes finished with one caused turnover and one ground ball...had nine games with two or more free ball pickups.
2016: Appeared in all 16 games and started 12...grabbed 12 ground balls and forced 10 total turnovers...fourth on the team in caused turnovers on the year...forced two turnovers against Wesleyan University on March 15th...forced two turnovers and grabbed one ground ball against Swarthmore on March 5th...grabbed three ground balls against Rensselaer on April 2nd.
2015: Started nine games while making 14 total appearances…forced a team-high 17 caused turnovers…grabbed 25 ground balls…tallied one shot…had seven-game caused turnover streak from 3/25-4/15…caused two turnovers and scooped three groundballs against Colorado College (3/15)…grabbed season-high six ground balls in a victory over Bard College (4/1).
2014: Played and started in all 14 games he played in out of the 15-game schedule...recorded an assist against SUNY Cobleskill...picked up 26 ground balls and forced a team second-best 14 turnovers.
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Started three out of his four years as a starter for the William T. Dwyer Panthers...captained one year...All-District in 2013...Honor Roll 2009-13.
PERSONAL: Parents are Jim Haymes and Pam Whitton...brother is Sean (18)...majoring in economics...picked Vassar over University of Florida and Oberlin College...chose Vassar because of "the strong academics and great teammates."
