2015 Liberty League All-Academic Team

2015: A solid leader on the team, Merritt helped VC out in the midfield by shutting down opponent offensive attempts and redirecting them to spur on the VC attack...played in 17 games for the Brewers...started one against Rensselaer on senior day...tallied a total of five shots with a season high of two shots against Union (Oct 23)...finishes her career with 36 shots, four goals and five assists for a total of thirteen points...half of her career goals came at clutch times for VC and were game-winning.

2014: Broke through and earned a starting job as a junior, having a solid campaign for VC...started all 18 games for Vassar as a forward, playing some midfield as well...posted three goals and an assist as a junior...her first goal of the season came at Western Connecticut Sep. 17...scored the game-winner in a huge 2-1 victory over RPI (Sep. 24)...tallied in a 2-0 win over William Smith College, earning the game-winner...her two game-winning goals were tied for the most on the team...posted an assist on Vassar's first goal against Rochester...took 11 shots on the season, putting eight on cage.

2013: Was an important midfielder and forward for the Brewers in 2013...her energy and spark in the offensive zone was huge...got into all 18 games as a sophomore, firing 18 shot attempts...posted two assists on the season...chalked up her first helper of the year in a win over Hartwick College Oct. 4...took four shots and assisted on a goal against Morrisville State October 5...took four shots in the Betty Richey Tournament final against Smith College...put all three of her shots on goal in a 4-0 victory over Elms College.

2012: NFHCA/Gladiator National Academic Squad...played in 14 games, making the start in 9-0 win over Morrisville State (Sept. 29)...scored a goal in that game...finished with two assists on the year...played a big part in the midfield as a reserve for the Brewers...assisted on a goal by Anna Schroeder goal in a 6-0 victory over Elms College Oct. 3...dished out an assist in a 5-3 loss to New Paltz, helping set up a Rebecca Smith tally...fired five shots in the season...played 25 or more minutes in eight games as a freshman.

PRIOR TO VASSAR: Lettered two years of varsity field hockey at Northport High School…named captain and was a recipient of the Coach’s Award her senior season…was a member of the National Honor Society…named National Merit Commended Scholar her senior year…lettered three years in bowling.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Ed and Susan Merritt...has one sibling, Eddy (24)...majoring in chemistry.
