Erin Koonz

Erin Koonz was named as an assistant coach for the Vassar field hockey team in the summer of 2015. 

Koonz comes to Vassar College after another coaching stint in the Mid-Hudson Valley, serving as an assistant coach at local rival SUNY New Paltz during the 2013 season. As a member of the Hawks’ coaching staff, Koonz helped the squad to a SUNYAC title and an appearance in the 2013 NCAA Tournament Second Round.

Koonz, a 2009 graduate of local Rondout Valley High School, brings a distinguished résumé to the program. During her four years at Connecticut, the Huskies went 76-13 and won BIG EAST championships in 2009 and 2013. During her senior season in 2013, she earned a full scholarship and was appointed a team captain. Koonz played in 43 games throughout her career, scoring three goals and notching three assists for nine points.

Following her graduation from the Storrs, CT-based college, she became an assistant coach with Cross River Combo, where she was charged with organizing and coaching multiple practices during the summer and fall months. She also worked with athletes in the Hudson Valley region with Futures Level I, where she coached the U-19 age group with all aspects of the game.
