nd nationally in blocks per set with an average 1.304, earned 133 total blocks… ranked 2
nd nationally in kills per set with an average 4.33 kills per set and a total 442 kills on the season…joined a group of Vassar’s Greatest as he earned his 1,000
th kill this season… led his team with a .356 hitting percentage…finished second on the team in service aces with 38 his final season…earned his career-high 27 kills against Elms College on February 27
th…earned his season-best hitting percentage against Alvernia on January 27
th with 19 kills…his best performance was against MIT on March 10
th earning a double-double with 23 kills, 12 blocks, 4 digs and 1 service ace.
2017: Continued his rise to one of the best players in all of NCAA volleyball as a junior...became Vassar's second two-time First Team All-American, joining Phil Tully on that list...led the nation in total blocks and blocks per set, and is already the Division III active leader in total blocks with 404 for his career and blocks per set (1.22)...led Vassar in kills with 344, posting 2.89 per set...hit .425 for the season...added 35 service aces, which was second-best on the squad...added 68 digs...hitting percentage was ninth-best in the country...has posted 870 kills to date, which ranked 17th among active players going into his senior season...led the UVC in 2017 in hitting percentage, while his kill total was fifth-best in the conference...his 149 block assists in 2017 was a school record...broke the single-season record in 2017 for blocks per set (1.36) and total blocks (162)...going into his senior season, already holds career records for attack percentage (.440), assisted rejections (348), total blocks (404)...became just the third Vassar men's volleyball played to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District...was VC's first UVC Player of the Year in school history...played in 119 sets and 33 matches...posted a career-best 20 kills against Marymount, adding nine blocks...finished with 15 terminations and six blocks, along with two aces in a five-set win over Juniata...in the UVC Tournament semifinals against New Paltz, Knigge chalked up 19 kills and eight blocks...in a win over Stevens on February 18, chalked up 10 kills on 19 attempts, blocking 10 attempts as well...on March 8, Knigge posted five aces and 14 terminations against Marymount...16 matches with double-digit kills...on April 1, hammered down all seven of his attempts to hit 1.000 against Penn State Behrend...posted 10 kills and seven blocks against Hope International in the season opener...hit .812 against Alvernia April 8, hammering down 13 of his 16 attacks...against No. 1 Springfield College on February 22, finished with nine kills on 13 attempts...broke the school record for assisted blocks in a win over Juniata...in the NCAA Tournament, Knigge posted 10 kills on 19 swings...finished with 10 or more kills in 11 of the last 13 matches for the Brewers...in a three-set win over NYU, Knigge hammered down five of his seven attempts with four blocks and three aces.
2016: Elevated his play this year as a sophomore, becoming one of most dominating forces in all of Division III men's volleyball...became the sixth all-time First Team All-American in program history as a sophomore, as he finished third in the nation in both hitting percentage (.502) and blocks per set (1.25)...set the Vassar College single season record for hitting percentage, total blocks, assisted blocks and solo blocks...ranked second in the UVC in hitting percentage, while his 302 kills per second on the squad...had 140 blocks on the year, 31 more than the next closest person in the UVC...had 14 matches with 10 or more kills...had a monster game for the Brewers against New Paltz in a near victory over the eventually national champs, posting 13 kills on 19 swings, adding eight blocks...became one of just two players ever at VC with a game of 10 or more rejections, accomplishing the feat twice against Baruch (Mar. 9) and NYU in the UVC Quarterfinal victory...registered 36 aces on the season, including five against Mount Ida...had a season-high 16 kills against SUNY Poly early in the season...added 16 kills in a loss to MIT, hitting .682 for the match...hit .909 against Mount St. Vincent on February 16, posting 10 kills on 11 attempts...hit over .300 in all but three matches as a sophomore.
2015: The standout middle hitter for Vassar had a great rookie season...played in 101 sets for the Brewers, seeing action in 30 matches...accumulated 224 kills while leading the team in hitting percentage with a .388...was one of only two players to play in 100 or more sets...averaged 2.22 kills per set...led the team and was fourth in the UVC in blocks per set with 1.01...totaled 102 total rejections...his 88 assisted blocks were the second-most ever in a season at Vassar...102 total blocks finished third in a single campaign....388 attack percentage ranked 5th among single-season hitting rates at VC...earned UVC Rookie of the Week accolades twice throughout the campaign...chalked up 28 service aces, which tied for third-most on the team...also posted 53 digs and 14 solo blocks...posted a career-high of 14 kills twice, coming against New Jersey City Feb. 7 and MIT March 14...chalked up 10 or more kills seven times...highest hitting percentage of the season came against NJCU, hitting .545 (14-2-22)...rejected seven attempts twice, the first coming against NYU on Feb. 15...also blocked seven attacks against Hunter March 4...had a season-best five service aces against Mount Saint Vincent on Feb. 21...totaled 310 points throughout the year.
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Lettered four year in cross country at New Egypt High School...captained three of those years...two-time all-division runner, and two-time all-division athlete...also lettered one year in basketball.
PERSONAL: Parents are Glenn and Nancy Knigge...sister is Morgan (22)...chose Vassar "because of its outstanding academic reputation and successful athletic programs"...plans to major in International Studies.
