No. 2 Vassar def. No. 3 Smith, 9-0
In the opening match of the 2010 Seven Sisters Championship, No. 2 Vassar earned a quick 9-0 victory over No. 3 Smith as the Brewers swept every position. Senior No. 4 Hope Blinkoff and sophomore No. 9 Nina Punukollu were particularly dominant for Vassar, as each dropped just three points in their wins.

No. 1 Mt. Holyoke def. No. 4 Wellesley, 9-0
In the second semifinal match of the day, three-time defending champion No. 1 Mount Holyoke defeated No. 4 Wellesley, 9-0, recording sweeps at every position. At No. 3, Mount Holyoke’s Shara Robertson dropped just four points in an 11-0, 11-2, 11-2 win, while No. 4 Laurian Lue Yen allowed just five points in her victory, 11-0, 11-4, 11-1. Mount Holyoke and Vassar will square off at 4:00 p.m., battling for the Seven Sisters title for the fourth consecutive year.

Third Place Match: No. 3 Smith vs. No. 4 Wellesley
No. 3 Smith claimed third place with a 7-2 win over No. 4 Wellesley in the consolation match. Four matches went to at least four games, with Smith taking three of those. Wellesley picked up a win at the top of the ladder as Ashley Stevens gritted out a five-game win over Smith’s Shanita Williams, 11-9, 11-9, 12-14, 11-13, 13-11. For Smith, No. 2 Meg Oliverio, No. 6 Alice Reznickova, and No. 8 Catie Blunt all picked up wins in four games. Wellesley’s second victory came from No. 9 Rachel Amrhein, who defeated Smith’s Elena Plesco, 11-7, 12-10, 11-5.

Championship Match: No. 1 Mt. Holyoke def. No. 2 Vassar, 7-2
For the fourth consecutive year it was Vassar College and Mount Holyoke College in the final match of the Seven Sisters Championship and also for the fourth consecutive year Mount Holyoke claimed the title, by a score of 7-2 on Saturday at Kenyon Hall.
Vassar, ranked No. 17 in the most recent College Squash Association (CSA) rankings, showed improvement on its 9-0 loss at last year’s Seven Sisters Championship, but No. 11 Mount Holyoke would not be unseated as Seven Sisters Champions.
Although Vassar senior Emilie Kraft dropped her match at No. 1, it was an impressive battle against Mount Holyoke’s Vidushi Gurunada, ranked No. 54 in the most recent CSA Individual rankings. Kraft took Gurunada deep into every game, falling 12-10, 12-10, 11-7. The Lyons earned wins at Nos. 1-5, as Gurunada, Laura Robinson, Shara Robertson, Laurian Lue Yen, and Tempest Bowden all picked up sweeps.
The Brewers received wins from their hottest players, sophomore No. 6 Meg Taylor and freshman No. 7 Alexa Lichtenstein who have both won six straight matches and are 10-1 on the season. Lichtenstein earned acomeback win against Lila Khan, 5-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 12-10. Taylor went to four games in her win, defeating Paulina Rajek, 9-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-8.
