2023: The senior middle blocker ended his career in one of the best possible ways. Gavin Van Beveren was a force in the middle position having one of the most efficient hitting years in the history of Division III Mens Volleyball. Van Beveren received the Matthew Vassar Outstanding Career Award...AVCA First Team All-American...AVCA North All-Region Team, and All-UVC First Team. He played in 24 matches appearing in 79 sets where he he had 2.76 points per set including 2.05 klils per set with a percentage of 0.524 and also 1.2 blocks per set, both good for first on the team. Van Beveren's best game of the season came against Stevens Institute of Technology (4/6) where he had 18.5 points, 15 kills and 7 block assists, hitting a jaw dropping clip of 0.619.Â
2022: The junior middle blocker continued his dominant play on the court garnering AVCA Second Team All-American…AVCA North All-Region and All-UVC First Team. Van Beveren played in 22 matches appearing in 70 sets where he scored 207 points with 141 kills good for 2.96 points and 2.01 kills per set hitting an efficient percentage of 43.0 ranking second in the UVC conference. On the defensive side, he led the team in blocks with 81 and had 1.16 blocks per set. Van Beveren’s 1.16 blocks per set also led the UVC. Best match of the season came against Nazareth (3/5) slamming 16 kills hitting an extremely efficient percentage of 78.9.
2021: AVCA North All-Region... All-UVC Second Team... the sophomore middle blocker followed a stellar freshman season with a powerful performance in 2021... Although he only played 42 sets, he was second on the team in points and kills, logging 137.5 and 114 respectively... averaged 3.28 points and 2.71 kills per set...  second best serving on the team with nine aces and 0.29 aces per serve... solid on defense with 28 digs and 27 blocks... His standout performance of the season was against St. John Fisher, when he scored 23 points with 18 kills, 4 aces, and 8 digs.Â
2020: Recorded one of the best rookie seasons in program history, being named AVCA All-American First Team… AVCA North Region Newcomer of the Year… AVCA North Region First Team… All-UVC Second Team… UVC Rookie of the Year… Played in 79 sets with 16 starts in 21 matches… Fourth in the nation with 71.0 total blocks (0.90 per set)… Third in the nation with a .434 hitting percentage… Led the team with 22 aces and had 190 kills this season… Named Sports Impact/AVCA National Player of the Week on Jan. 28… Eight matches with ten or more kills… Against UC Santa Cruz (1/17) recorded 13 kills on 19 attacks (.474) and had 11 total blocks… Tallied 12 kills on 14 attacks (.714) and five blocks against No. 4 Endicott (1/25)… Recorded a season-high five service aces in the win over Juniata (2/1)… Knocked in 13 kills against Springfield (2/12)… Made 14 kills and five blocks in the win against St. John Fisher (2/21)… Notched a career-best 15 kills in the win over Hunter (2/29)… Closed the shortened season with 13 kills on .600 hitting in the win over Wells (3/7).
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Lettered four years in volleyball at Chattahoochee High School...was a captain all four years...State Runner Up his sophomore year...State Champions his senior year...achieved Summa Cum Laude honors with a numeric average over 96.
PERSONAL: Son of Raymond and Heidi van Beveren...has two siblings, Grant and Colby...chose Vassar because it provides a rigorous education and the opportunity to play collegiate volleyball.Â
