2019: All-Liberty League First Team selection… The senior utility player had a strong season, being used at every position… Appeared in 37 games and started 32 of them… Offensively, batted .288 and had 34 hits along with seven doubles… Recorded 17 RBI and 16 runs… Hit a home run against Plymouth State (3/12)…Ten multi-hit games… On the mound, appeared in eight games while starting one… Pitched 15.1 innings and struck out 13 batters… Recorded the save against Union (4/19)… Against New Paltz (4/24) played all nine positions in the game.
2018: Had a dynamic second season with the Brewers, becoming both a force on the mound and at the plate in 2018...led the squad in batting as a junior with a .353 batting average, chalking up a team-highs in doubles with nine...scored 20 times, while driving in 20 and his on-base percentage of .432 and slugging percentage of .490 were both second-best on the squad...also saw seven appearances on the mound for Vassar, saving two games while posting a 4.91 ERA...fanning nine batters in 7.1 innings...batters hit only .154 against him on the season, best among Vassar hurlers...offensively, posted five games with three hits, the most of any player...was 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles and a run in game one of a twinbill with St. Lawrence March 31...was 3-for-5 with two runs at Williams...went 3-for-4 with a RBI and double against Union April 28...went 3-for-5 with two RBI, a double and two runs scored in a must-win game against Bard May 6...was 2-for-4 with a triple at Rochester in a victory...posted his first collegiate homerun against Mount Saint Vincent April 24...had an 11-game hit streak going through the middle of the season...on the mound, struck out two batters to earn the save in an 8-6 win over Pomona-Pitzer...at Bard, picked up his second save of the season after striking out the final out in a 13-9 win...fanned three of four batters he saw May 6 against Bard...allowed no hits over 1.1 innings in the Liberty League Tournament against RIT.Â
2017: Was a dual threat both on the mound and in the field for the Brewers, playing three different spots for VC...batted .246 on the year but came on later for Vassar...also pitched in 14 games for Vassar, chalking up a 2.66 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 20.1 innings, allowing six earned runs all season...was 3-1 on the year on the mound, while earning two saves as well...started 16 games offensively, as he posted two doubles and 10 RBI, scoring 14 runs...was 2-for-3 against Bard College April 29...against Union College April 14, tossed three scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit...started against Manhattanville and allowed no runs over three innings...earned a save against St. Lawrence May 7, striking out two batters to help VC win 1-0...also picked up a save in an 8-6 win over RPI.Â
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Transfer from Emory University...Was a two-year member of the Emory University baseball, where EU won back-to-back South Regional titles...before enrolling at Emory, was a two-year captain and three-time All-League selection at Friends Central School in Wynnewood, PA...named as the team MVP in 2014...named to the Carpenter Cup All-Star team...was an All-Main Line Media News First Team honoree...two-time All-Southeastern Pennsylvania team...started school-record 107 games, never missing a contest at FCS...program leader in singles (103) and walks (85), while second in hits, runs and stolen bases...set the league record for bags with 30 stolen bases in 2014...led his team to a pair of Friends School League baseball championships...also lettered in basketball and soccer...Student Admissions Committee board member.Â
PERSONAL: Is the son of Jon and Lauren Rubin...father played baseball at the University of Pennsylvania and in the Australian Baseball League...mother Lauren Becker Rubin was a standout field hockey and lacrosse player at Brown, holding the Division I record for assists...sister Jesse (18) plays soccer at Washington University of St. Louis...brother Justin (13)...majoring in media studies.Â
