2019: Appeared in eight games as a relieve pitcher, earning one win… Pitching 15.0 innings while striking out 12 batters… In the win over Plymouth State (3/12) gave up no hits or runs while striking out two batters… Also batted in three games, recording two hits, three runs and one RBI.
2018: After spending the entirety of his collegiate career as an infielder, transitioned to the mound and was outstanding as a junior as a reliever...was third on the team in appearances with 12, while his 11 relief appearances was the second-most of anyone in 2018...posted a 2.11 ERA, which led the team, while pitching 21.1 innings of work...allowed just five earned runs all season, striking out 13...allowed no hits or runs in his first appearance on the mound for VC at Occidental, going 2.2 innings while striking out two...against St. Lawrence University March 31, scattered two hits to work two innings of scoreless relief...worked three of the four games in the Bard College series, allowing just one earned run over five innings...started the Liberty League Tournament opener against Union, allowing just three hits over 2.1 innings...fanned three in two frames against Mount Saint Vincent April 24.
2017: The sophomore Florida native saw action in 22 games, getting nine starts on the infield for Vassar...batted .244 in his second season, posting 10 hits in 41 at-bats, scoring five runs with two extra base hits...chalked up three games with multiple hits...was 2-for-4 with an RBI against Westfield State on March 13...also was 2-for-4 against Cairn University March 15...was 2-for-6 with three RBI and his first career homer against NYU on March 18...was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored against RIT on April 9.
2016: Batted .217 over 16 games, eight starts his freshman season... Scored four runs in 23 at-bats... Registered two walks and three HBPs... Tallied a hit in his first collegiate at-bat against Keene State on 3/16... Went 1-for-3 with a run in his first start against Millikin University on 3/20... Scored in two straight games against Millikin University on 3/20 and then St. Lawrence University on 3/25.
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Two-year letter winner for the Barracudas of Coral Reef Senior High...batted .328 for his career, leading his team in the Miami-Dade 8A District 16 in average as a senior...hit .352 as a sophomore...earned the Coaches Award as a freshman...voted Most Outstanding Effort as a sophomore...also a star golfer in high school...was a three-time Honorable Mention All-Miami-Dade golfer...helped lead his golf team to a District Runner Up twice, placing in regionals four times...co-captain as a senior for the golf team...voted Most Outstanding Sophomore at Engineering Academy...AP Scholar With Distinction.
PERSONAL: Son of David and Allison Hartnett...has one sister, Katelyn (14)...majoring in economics...father drafter by Seattle Mariners in 1986...played collegiate baseball at Creighton University, earning Academic All-American Honorable Mention...uncle Jim played baseball at Clemson University...chose Vassar over Emory, Macalester, UNC, Fordham, Florida and Florida State.
