2015 Stats

2013-14:  Played 23 matches in his junior year, the most of the team...Ended with a 5-18 record, one win each at No. 3, 4, and 5...Won his very first match of the season against Bard College in five sets...Played five five-set matches, winning three...Went even in tournament play with a 2-2 record.

2012-13: Continued to progress as a sophomore, as he played anywhere from fourth to eighth in the lineup ... finished the year 4-13, earning three wins at No. 4 ... started the year eighth and finished by playing the last five matches at No. 4 ... picked up his first win of the season against Bard College Nov. 17, allowing only six points all match ... knocked off his Siena College opponent Jake Hebert in five sets ... earned a three-set win over Michael Kraus of Minnesota ... Joshua Eastby of Illinois-Springfield was felled by Garfinkel in five sets to finish the season.

2011-12: Started his freshman season with the Brewers by playing four matches ... went 0-3 on the year ... played at No. 9 and No. 10 in the lineup.

2014-15: Captained the Brewer squad as a senior...played in all 15 matches for Vassar...went 6-12 in 2014-15, playing at No. 3, 4 and 5...went a perfect 3-0 at No. 5...earned wins in four of his last six matches of the season...picked up a straight set win over Asad Hashmi on Senior Day...earned a four-set win at the CSA Team Championships Feb. 21, knocking off Notre Dame's Reilly Bench 9-11, 11-4, 11-7 and 11-8. 

PRIOR TO VASSAR: Attended Mamaroneck High School before coming to Vassar.

PERSONAL: Parents are Steven Garfinkel and Elisa Alcabes ... economics major.
