Brewers Play #9 Middlebury To 1-1 Draw

Valle nets second goal of the season

Middlebury, VT – The Vassar College Women's Soccer team moved its unbeaten streak to open the season to four games Sunday afternoon with a 1-1 draw on the road at #9 Middlebury. Sophomore Elena Valle (Rocky Hill, CT) supplied the scoring for Vassar with her second goal of the season.
 
Following Sunday's result, Vassar stands at 3-0-1 overall on the season with Middlebury moving to 1-1-2 through its first four games of the year.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar got out to an early 1-0 lead when Valle scored off a corner kick at the 15:38 mark of the contest.
  • The one-goal lead stood through the first half with Vassar outshooting the Panthers 11-5 heading into the break.
  • The Brewers finished the opening stanza with a slim 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Middlebury goalkeeper Frankie Marston made three first half saves for the Panthers while Laura Shea (Swarthmore, PA) was not forced to make a save prior to halftime.
